Kelli's hidden gems in Rome

IN YOUR SUITCASE
Take a cue from the very stylish, very sophistacated and utterly gorgeous Roman Ladies. They tend to dress up here, no flipflops! Go for natural flowy fabrics like linen or cotton. Plus, even when 35+ degrees, there is no need to look like you’re headed to a beach. You can recognize the Local ladies by the amount of clothes they are wearing. Try loose shirts, cute dresses, flowy tops and perfectly cut light trousers. Add big - BIG - sunglasses, some elegant jewellery + a pair of sandals and off you go.

NOT TO BE MISSED
Palazzo Altemps
This museum feels like a quiet little hidden gem in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Rome (it is just steps from the Pïazza Navona).
It is a beautiful late-15th-century palazzo housing the best of the Museo Nazionale Romano’s collection of classical sculpture. It is cool, quiet, utterly elegant. Almost like a fairytale. Another tip for Great Art without the crowd is the San Luigi deli Francesi church. Just sneak in, enjoy the silence and admire the impressive Caravaggios.
Roscioli
Have the cacio e pepe or pizza romana at Roscioli. Grazie us later.
Giolitti
Well, when in Rome… Wandering through the impossibly narrow cobblestone vicoli with no particular destination in mind you almost always end up at a gelateria at some point. I find this one to have the best scoops.
Shakerato
What a revelation! I could not drink Prosecco all day long, so a kind waitress proposed me a ‘Shakey Shakey Coffee’. It is just an espresso shaken with ice and some sugar. So refreshing!
The Pantheon
The light in here, oh the light… Don’t let the tourist annoy you. Remember, you are one of them ;)
Rooftops
We loved the one at our hotel, but Rome is filled with the most breathtaking rooftops. Sip on an icecold drink and let the day sink in. Roma, ti amiamo.

FOR A GREAT STAY
We stayed at Mama Shelter Roma and loved it. The only little downside is the lack of an outdoor pool. But the rooftop bar with éxcellent prosecco and fantastico vibes more than made up for that.
